In the coming days, goalkeeper Darko Tofiloski will undergo a trial with Czech side Sparta Praha that will last 2-3 days.

Košice, the current club of Tofiloski, confirmed on Wednesday that the Macedonian keeper will be joining up Sparta Praha on trial in the coming days.  The Košice president, Blažej Podolák, noted, “Darko will go to Sparta Praha only on trial.  That should take two to three days.”

Podolák continued by saying, “If Sparta were to make us an offer, I believe that we will agree.  We have not mentioned a transfer fee with them.  We will see what happens after the trial.  Honestly, I can say that if they are interested and make an offer, I would be happy if Darko moved there.  First, it would be financially good for us and Darko deserves to further his career.”

Sparta Praha has been the most successful club in Czech history.  To date, they have won the most league titles, but in the last couple of years they have battled for supremacy with an emerging power in Viktoria Plzeň.  This season, at the midway point of the season, Sparta Praha is in 1st place with 42 points, leading second placed Viktoria Plzeň by five points.

If Tofiloski were to join Sparta Praha after his trial, it’s unclear what his role will be with the club.  Sparta Praha already features a highly rated 24-year-old goalkeeper named Tomáš Vaclík.  He started all 16 league games during the first half of the season and only conceded a total of 11 goals.

Since joining Košice in the summer of 2010, the 28-year-old Tofiloski has made a total of 108 league appearances for the club from Slovakia.  During his time there, he also became a member of the Macedonian national team.  Darko made his debut for Macedonia on 11 June of 2013 when he played the 2nd half in a friendly against Norway.  That is still his only appearance as most of the other times he has been on the bench behind the starting keeper Tome Pachovski.
