The draw for the traditional Maso Cup, featuring Australian teams with a Macedonian background, has been made.
The 2014 edition will be played in Newcastle and it will be hosted by two clubs, Broadmeadow Magic and Newcastle Suns. There will be 12 teams divided into 4 groups of three, with the first placed team advancing into the quarter-finals together with four of the best other teams (all 2nd and 3rd placed teams will be ranked from 1st to 8th). With this new format, there could be a possibility where three teams from one group advance.

The Maso Cup will start on 25 January at 10.00 am with the opening Group A game being between co-hosts Broadmeadow Magic and Yagoona Lions. It will end the next day. Reigning title holder, Rockdale City Suns, was lucky in the draw as they got the easiest group in their quest for a repeat. The only difference from last year regarding the teams is that Shell Cove Barbarians is back in the Cup, while the most famous Macedonian-Australian club, Preston Lions, still remain out of the competition.
