Željezničar’s official website confirmed that Yani Urdinov will play the last game for the Bosnian club this upcoming Friday in the home encounter against rival Borac Banja Luka.
The Željezničar vs. Borac Banja Luka matchup on Friday features the top two teams on the standings. It will also be the final game for Yani Urdinov in a Željezničar uniform. That match marks the final round of the 1st half of the season in Bosnia before the winter break gets underway. Yani was signed until the end of the year, so he becomes a free agent during the winter transfer window. Urdinov and Željezničar could not agree on a contract extension, so Urdinov will go elsewhere.
Željezničar’s website released the following statement from Urdinov, “I am sad that I will be leaving, but sometimes that’s how it is in football. I had a good season and speaking from my heart I can say that playing for Željezničar has been the best thrill of my career thus far. Željezničar is a club who will forever stay in my heart. Against Borac Banja Luka I will give 1,000% of myself, leave everything on the field and thank the best fans in the Balkans.”
After Urdinov’s announcement, Željezničar supporters responded on various social media sites with well wishes and thanked Yani for his contributions. The prevailing thought among the fans was that they appreciated his fighting spirit and the fact that he left everything he had on the field each and every match. All in all, Urdinov played in 33 games for Željezničar (will be 34 after the Borac encounter) and scored one goal which came in a recent game against Travnik.
Bosnian website SportSport.ba reported that Urdinov’s likely next destination will be with a club in Malaysia.
