Women: Italy – Macedonia 15:0

Macedonia ended the 2015 World Cup qualifiers with a humiliating road defeat by Italy.

Another qualifications have ended for the Macedonian women’s national team. Dead last in the group, with only 1 point won (1:1 draw away to Estonia) and a disastrous goal-difference with 6 goals scored and 74 against.

The nightmare qualifications were concluded with the heaviest defeat so far. Italy managed to score 15 goals past the Macedonian girls who played without the best player in Natasha Andonova (yellow card suspension) and also one of the better in Gentiana Rochi (injured). Of course, even with them Italy would have still recorded a big win. Previously Macedonia noted heavy defeats of 12:0 (Spain), 11:0 (Italy), 10:0 (Spain) and 9:1 (Romania).

This is the all-time heaviest defeat in the history of the Macedonian women’s senior national team. Previously the heaviest defeat was the one recorded in March 2010 from Norway away with 14:0 in the qualifications for the 2011 World Cup.

In the other two games played ta the same time, Spain confirmed the first place with a tight 1:0 win away to the Czech Republic, while Romania beat Estonia with 2:0.
