Vardar destroyed Tikves with the score of 6:1 to conclude the first legs of this round of the Macedonian Cup.
Vardar and Tikves completed the first legs round of the Macedonian Cup Round of 16 after their game was moved to Thursday due to a stadium conflict. After last year’s elimination at the hands of Tikves, Vardar had the chance to redeem themselves and they did just that by recording an easy win. New signing Filip Petrov could not be stopped in the 1st half as he scored four goals to give Vardar a 4:1 lead going into halftime. Meanwhile, in the second half, Filip Ivanovski and Brazilian attacker Lico scored one goal apiece to complete the 6:1 scoreline. Ivanovski scored his goal from a penalty. For Tikves, they only scored one goal but it was a beauty by Ilija Jakov directly from a free kick.
The return leg will be played on 28 September 2011 in Kavadarci. However, after today’s performance, Vardar has pretty much secured a place in the next round of the Macedonian Cup.
