UEFA Regions’ Cup: Macedonia advances

South-East MacedoniaFollowing today’s goalless draw, the selection of South-East Macedonia advanced to the intermediary round of the UEFA Regions Cup.

After 2 wins and a goal difference of +8, the selection of South-East Macedonia needed at least a draw against the Eastern Region of Northern Ireland to ensure qualification to the next round.  That was achieved today after picking up a point in the goalless draw.

South-East Macedonia ended in first place with 7 points, same as second placed Eastern Region, but Macedonia advanced due to the greater goal difference.  Thus, South-East Macedonia is through to the intermediary round which will be played in the form of 8 mini tournaments.  They will need to be first in their new group in order to qualify for the final tournament in 2013.  For their new group, South-East Macedonia was drawn with Lietava of Lithuania, Qarachala of Azerbaijan and Belgrade of Serbia.  The host has yet to be confirmed with the matches scheduled for April 2013.
