Macedonia U21 defeated their Romanian counterparts in Blagoja Milevski’s debut as manager of the team.
Blagoja Milevski had a successful debut as manager of the Macedonian U21 team. The hosts of the match played in Skopje celebrated a 2:1 win over the visitors from Romania.
Macedonia played a good match in which they created several chances throughout the game and eventually deservedly won. Before the first goal of the game, both teams had one good chance each but it was David Babunski’s great free kick which opened the scoreline in the 30th minute.
Macedonia did not stop here and created several other chances including a shot by Nikolov that ended in the post. In the second half, Babunski showed an incredible vision and found Bardi in the box who had no problems scoring past the Romanian keeper.
Romania pulled one back in the 69th minute when Bălașa headed a ball home, but until the final whistle that was all they managed to did and eventually Macedonia celebrated a deserved 2:1 win. In the final moments of the match, Milevski brought on Melih Kartal, a Turkish player of Macedonian origin who was part of Galatasaray B. That was his debut for Macedonia, similar to Pivkovski who used to play for the youth national teams of Sweden but has now played a match for the country where his parents are born.
