U19: Switzerland – Macedonia 3:0

Macedonia U19 Macedonia U19 was defeated in the first qualifying match of the 2012 UEFA Under-19 Championships with a 3:0 loss against Switzerland U19.

In the opening match of Group 6, Macedonia U19 played against their counterparts from Switzerland at the Kukus Stadium in Turnovo.  Macedonia proved to be no match for the Swiss and was defeated 3:0 against the team that was favored to win the group.

Silvian Widmer in the 41st minute, Joël Geissmann in the 57th minute, and substitute Gaëtan Karlen in stoppage time scored the three goals for Switzerland on their way to the victory.  The Swiss team also ended the game with 10 men after Arlind Ajeti was shown a second yellow card in the 80th minute, thus leading to a red card.  However, that did not help the Macedonian side as the opponents even scored another goal despite playing with 10 men.

Macedonia played the match with the following line-up:
Dimitrievski (c), Iliev, Cikarski (80′ Zdraveski), Donev, Manovski, Asani, Gligorov, Aleksovski, Nafiu (50′ Jankoski), Babunski, Skenderovic (51′ Kalanoski).

In the other match of the group, Ukraine defeated Kazakhstan 2:0 in Strumica.

Macedonia’s next match is in two days, on the 12th of November, at 13:00 CET in Strumica against Ukraine.  After today’s results, Switzerland and Ukraine top the table with three points apiece.
