U19 Novigrad – Macedonia 0:4

The Macedonian U19 national team had a great start in the “Kvarnerska Rivijera” tournament with a 0:4 win over Novigrad.

With goals by Darko Velkovski, Viktor Angelov, Edin Skenderovic and Boban Nikolov, Macedonia U19 won convincing against Novigrad in the opening game of the tournament.  It was just 0:1 at halftime with a goal scored by Rabotnichki’s Darko Velkovski after Isnik Alimi dribbled past several opposing players before assisting Velkovski who calmly converted his chance.

Four minutes into the second half, Velkovski turned provider when he ran down the left flank and sent a perfect cross for his teammate Viktor Angelov who scored into the empty net for a 0:2 lead.

Viktor Talevski attempted a powerful shot in the 58th minute from 18 meters which the Novigrad keeper blocked but Edin Skenderovic reacted quickly on the rebound for Macedonia’s third goal.

Finally, the fourth goal was scored in the 74th minute when Boban Nikolov played a nice one-two with Darko Velkovski, then dribbled past a couple of defenders before scoring a goal past the opposing keeper Franjičević for the convincing opening victory.

Macedonia played with the following line-up: Shishkovski, Djinov, Gjorgjievski, Ramadanoski, Talevski, Nikolov, Noveski, Velkovski, Angelov, Alimi, Nafiu.

Also played: Petrov, Stojchevski, Kalanoski, Ameti, Skenderovic.

In the other match of Macedonia’s Group D, Vicenza defeated Hajduk 1:0.  Macedonia’s next match will be against Hajduk, today at 16.30 CET.
