The Macedonian U19 team came back to notch a win in the second friendly against Albania U19.
After the initial 3:0 defeat in Albania, Macedonia U19 bounced back with a win in the second and final friendly between the two youth national teams. Today’s match was played in Struga and Macedonia won thanks to a goal by Nikola Ristevski in the 38th minute.
“It was important to get back on track after the defeat in Pogradec, Albania. I am pleased that the players showed they can play a quality match and with a lot of will get the win. We had around 15 players who got a chance for the first time and it was important for us to see their potential. We played a good match, did not allow the opponent to break us down and we deservedly won. We have 5 more matches (against Poland on the 6th of March, against Romania on the 18th and 20th of March and against Slovakia on the 1st and 3rd of April) before the beginning of the qualifications for the European Championship. After those five matches, we should have a better feel about which players will be called up for the qualifiers” noted Mario Vujovikj, the U19 manager, in a statement to FFM’s website.
Macedonia played the match with the following line-up: Gjorgjev; Risteski, Simovski, Nikolovski, Terziev, Dobikj, Jakimovski, Alomerovikj, Demir, Kostadinov, Krezikj.
