Surprisingly, the list included Meldin Alomerović and Arda Iljazovski who play for clubs that are part of the second-tier U17 league in Slovenia and Denmark, as well as Aleksandar Petrovski from Crvena zvezda, who has not had any playing time in the top Serbian U17 league.

On the other hand, Sassuolo players Dejan Spaseski and Nikola Mitev, who play in the best Italian U17 league, were not called up, and it is definitely strange that Spaseski was left out, as he is one of the most regular players for Sassuolo this season. A positive moment is the return of Luka Trpevski to the Macedonian national team, who was named the best player of Crvena zvezda from the 2010 generation and who in the meantime had one appearance for Sweden U16, a country he is eligible to represent through his father Goran Trpevski, who is a former Swedish youth international. The misunderstandings between the parent and the Football Federation of Macedonia have been resolved to mutual satisfaction, so we expect Trpevski to show his talent in the Macedonian jersey in the years to come.

The qualifiers will be played in Slovenia from March 25-31. In addition to Macedonia and host Slovenia, Germany and France also participate at this tournament and only the group winner secures a spot in the final stage. We will start the qualifiers against Germany on March 25th, then we will face France on the 28th with our last match being against Slovenia on March 31st.
