Two match ban for Pandev in Italy

Goran Pandev received a two match ban for the direct red card that he picked up in the Italian Super Cup final.

The expulsion during the Italian Super Cup final will cost Pandev two games as the Italian football association ruled on his red card during the Juventus vs. Napoli match.  Goran will miss the opening two league games of the season, the away match to Palermo and the home clash against Fiorentina.

Pandev was red carded in the 85th minute shortly after he was ruled offside by the assistant referee.  He did not agree with the decision and reportedly said something in Macedonian to the linesman, and that led the main referee to show Goran a red card.  After the game, Pandev claimed that he only told the linesman that “it wasn’t offside”.  Besides Pandev, the main referee Paolo Mazzoleni dashed out another two red cards for Napoli for Juan Zúñiga and manager Walter Mazzari.  Pandev’s team was leading 2:1 before Juventus tied the game with a questionable penalty, forcing extra time where Juventus scored two goals to prevail 4:2 and win the Italian Super Cup trophy.
