Aleksandar Trajkovski is being linked with a loan move to Mechelen, according to the latest reports out of Belgium.
Aleksandar Trajkovski has not been happy with the lack of playing time that he has received at Zulte Waregem, and Belgian newspapers are reporting that he has asked for a transfer. The most interested team in Trajkovski appears to be Mechelen, the current club of another Macedonian international in Tome Pachovski.
This season, Trajkovski, who turns 21 in early September, has either stayed on the bench or made late substitute appearances in majority of the games for Zulte Waregem. Thus, Belgian newspapers have been reporting that Trajkovski has asked Zulte Waregem for a transfer or loan, and that more should be known regarding Aleksandar’s future after Thursday’s return leg against APOEL in the Europa League play-off round.
Mechelen is desperately looking for attackers after newcomers such as Benjamin Mokulu and Viktor Prodell have failed to impress with their performances this season. With the transfer window closing later this week in Belgium, Mechelen is scrambling to add some attackers, with Trajovski being one of their top targets.
Something that could potentially complicate the move is the fact that Zulte Waregem striker Mbaye Leye tore his ACL this past Sunday. The injury will keep Leye out of action for the remainder of the season. That could open up some more playing time for Trajkovski, but he still faces heavy competition as attacking minded players such as Thorgan Hazard, Ibrahima Conte, Jens Naessens, Habib Habibou and Franck Berrier all seem ahead of him on the depth chart.
