Toshack announced squad for Russia and Andorra qualifiers

MacedoniaNew manager John Toshack announced a squad of 22 players today for the two EURO 2012 qualifiers in early September against Russia and Andorra.

The new names on the list are Australian born Daniel Georgievski, Muarem Muarem, and Muhamed Huseini.  The 23 year old Georgievski plays at Croatian club Šibenik as a RB which has been a problematic position for the Macedonian national team, Muarem is a midfielder who signed earlier this summer with Rabotnicki, while Useini is another midfielder who plays his club football with Shkendija.  These two qualifiers also mark the return of Vlade Lazarevski, Robert Petrov, Darko Tasevski, and Mirko Ivanovski.  Vlade Lazarevski is not playing for his club team Amiens but he plays RB so Toshack decided to include him.  Robert Petrov is another RB while Tasevski and Ivanovski are back on the national team after not being called up for several months.

Here is the 22 player Macedonian squad:

The assistant coaches for John Toshack will be Boban Babunski, Cameron Toshack, and Ibraim Osmani.  Cameron Toshack is actually the son of John Toshack.  The appointment of Boban Babunski as an assistant coach likely means that the Macedonian U21 national team will also have a new manager since Babunski will be with the senior national team.  The team is scheduled to gather on 28 August 2011 and hold their first training the following day on Monday.  Macedonia plays away to Russia on 2 September 2011 while four days later, the national team has a home game against Andorra.
