Many have already heard about the story of FK Sloboden, and many already have the club as their favorite in the Macedonian 4th league. The team in its inaugural season competed in the 4.MFL Kisela Voda and finished on the 8th place out of 10 teams with a record of 4 wins, a draw and 12 defeats. as a team who just started building its squad from scratch, they are satisfied from what they achieved this season, but promise to do better next season when the team will be strengthened with several new and experienced players.
This club surely can get anyone attention, as they gain support from abroad which is quite unusual for an amateur club from Macedonia. They are the most active Macedonian club on social media, more active than the top flight clubs.
Extended highlights from their last seasonal match:
Attention!! They broadcast all of their matches live, even friendlies. For a while now even with English commentary thanks to Mr. Blake Porter from the United Kingdom, who is also a leading patreon of the club. The club’s board so far spent a lot of money to raise the club, and for people living of a Macedonian salary that is quite an achievement. That is why this club needs more patreons from about. Besides Mr. Porter, there are also patreons from Malta and South Korea. Local business Advanced Chiropractic Skopje helped the club financially and that is why its logo is on the club’s tops (at the sleeve). On the other sleeve is the logo of Skraten Corner, a podcast on YouTube that often talks about the club in their videos.
Besides a Macedonian lad from Germany, who supplied the team with training and match equipment, so far no one else of the Macedonian diaspora gave support for this ambitious club, which is quite disappointing.
We at MacedonianFootball, as a non profit web site, decided to give this club the best support we can give – online attention. This season we covered the 4.MFL Kisela Voda and we also included detailed statistics for each of the Sloboden players (you can see it at the bottom of the club’s profile).
On Thursday the club organized a charity event in cooperation with Retweet a meal and Real acst of kindness. The club’s president Angjel Jankov, coach Filip Jakjimoski, assistant coach Kiril Zarinski, photographer & COMET admin Angel Kostoski, players Darko Majkovski and Aleksej Aleksovski as well as former player Kristijan Kalinov cooked meal packs for those in need. The meals are offered for free every week at the Makedonija street in Skopje, at Mother Teresa’s memorial house.
