After reviewing the performances of Macedonian football players over the month of September, we put a list of the best starting 11 during that span. We compiled stats such as games played, goals, assists, and clean sheets to determine which players deserved to be on the team of the month.
The Macedonian starting 11 for the month of September will be a 4-4-2 formation that includes the following players:
Edin Nuredinoski
The goalkeeper position was a difficult choice because there were not many good options. Edin Nuredinoski was given the nod with 3 appearances this month, including one clean sheet, for Ethnikos Achnas. He is the only keeper on the senior national team who plays regularly for his club team. Pacovski only played once for Beerschot in a cup game for September, same as Kristijan Naumovski with Dinamo Bucureşti, while Martin Bogatinov and Darko Tofiloski are no longer starters for their respective clubs as the managers continue to go back and forth with the keepers.
Aleksandar Todorovski
Todorovski was an easy choice at RB. He played in four consecutive games during September for Polonia Warszawa and has been in good form from all indications. His crosses from the right have led to several chances for his teammates.
Boban Grncarov
Grncarov has helped Lierse have the best defense in Belgium this season, after the club conceded the most goals last season for a big turnaround. Grncarov was recently praised by the Lierse manager for his play so he was an easy choice on this list.
Bojan Markoski
The partner for Grncarov at CB was not as easy. The teams for both Nikolce Noveski and Vance Sikov conceded too many goals in September to be considered. Noveski did have an assist yesterday but it happened on 1 October so it did not count for this list. From the other players available at the position, Bojan Markoski made the most sense as Enosis has conceded very few goals and he is the leader on their defense.
Goran Popov
The LB position came down to either Popov or Lazevski. Popov had two more appearances and was given the edge because of his solid play in both league play and the Europa League.
Besart Ibraimi
Based on numbers, he deserves to be on the team for the month of September. He does play in the Ukrainian second division and the competition is not as strong but his two goals this month were the most of any Macedonian player abroad. He also had an assist as Sevastopol has started playing much better once Ibraimi returned to the club from Tavria where he was on loan.
Antonio Stankov
Has been productive for Oss when given the opportunity to play. Scored one goal in four appearances in September and was summoned by Boban Babunski to the Macedonian U21 national team.
Armend Alimi
Has been playing well for Istra 1961 over the past month. Provided two assists in four games and has been receiving good remarks in Croatian newspapers for his play in September.
Ivan Trickovski
Scored the important goal against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League. His club is now 1st place in their group after two rounds. His form has been winning many admirers across Europe.
Filip Ivanovski
The captain of Vardar, Filip Ivanovski, scored three goals in September as Vardar tops the table with 23 points. His form has been instrumental for the good results by Vardar.
Stevica Ristić
Scored one goal and had an assist for Suwon during September. Won an important penalty during the AFC Champions League to send Suwon to the semi-finals where they will face Al-Sadd. His been scoring regularly ever since moving to South Korea.
