No Macedonian player had gaudy numbers in September but the choice came down to three players in Ivan Trickovski, Boban Grncarov, and Aleksandar Todorovski. We chose Trickovski as he played regularly for APOEL and scored an important goal in the Champions League.
The month of September was not very productive for the Macedonian players. From the players abroad, Besart Ibraimi scored the most goals with two while several other players found the back of the net once. Ibraimi was downgraded and not considered for the best player of the month because of the competition since he plays in the Ukrainian second division. Trickovski scored only one goal but it came in the Champions League and he has been creating chances in the other games during September. The remaining players who scored one goal in the past month did not stand out so the biggest challengers for Trickovski were defenders Aleksandar Todorovski and Boban Grncarov.
Todorovski finally made his debut with Polonia Warszawa during the month of September and started four consecutive games. The fans have been very pleased with his performance as he has contributed to the offense with his crosses from the right and has also done well defensively. Prior to this month, Todorovski was not even making the bench for the Polish club so he has made good strides in September but it was still not enough to overtake Trickovski.
As for Boban Grncarov, the Lierse defense has done very well as they have conceded the fewest goals in the Belgian top division but his club is still near the bottom of the table. Sometimes Lierse may only concede one goal but they would still lose the game 1:0. It’s important to reward winning and Trickovski’s club APOEL is in first place in their Champions League group and will be in first place in the Cypriot league if they beat Apollon later today.
Ivan Trickovski has become one of the leaders for APOEL at a young age and his presence has been instrumental in the success of APOEL both domestically and internationally. Trickovski is the youngest player in the starting lineup for APOEL at 24 years old but he plays calmly and has the composure of a veteran player. Trickovski has demonstrated versatility as he has played on the right and left wings. Ivan scored only one goal during September but it was in the Champions League which makes it more meaningful than the other goals scored by the Macedonian players.
In concluding, Trickovski had a good September but he was also helped out by the fact that not many players stood out this past month. The two defenders, Aleksandar Todorovski and Boban Grncarov, were the major competition but they didn’t do enough to beat out Ivan Trickovski of APOEL.
