Team of the Month – August

Team of the month for AugustAfter reviewing the performances of Macedonian football players over the month of August, we put a list of the best starting 11 during that span.  We compiled stats such as games played, goals, assists, and clean sheets to decide which players deserved to be on the team.

The Macedonian starting 11 for the month of May will be a 4-4-2 formation that includes the following players:

Stole Dimitrievski
Choosing the best goalkeeper for the month of August was pretty easy.  Tome Pacovski and Kristijan Naumovski are the #3 keepers for their respective clubs, Edin Nuredinoski only had one appearance since the Cypriot season just began this past weekend, while Martin Bogatinov and Darko Tofiloski started the month on the bench.  Therefore, the 17 year old Rabotnicki keeper Stole Dimitrievski was the easy choice as best keeper during the month of August.  His form was instrumental in leading Rabotnicki to the play-off round of the Europa League.

Daniel Georgievski
The battle at RB came down to either Daniel Georgievski or Goran Dimovski.  We felt Georgievski was more deserving as he made four appearances for Croatian club Šibenik and was rewarded by being included in the Macedonian national team for the early September qualifiers against Russia and Andorra.  Both Georgievski and Dimovski are helped by the lack of depth at the position since Vlade Lazarevski and Aleksandar Todorovski don’t play for their club teams.

Vance Sikov
Vance was another easy choice at right CB for the month of August as he scored two goals in four appearances for Volyn.  He was also named in the team of the round for two consecutive weeks in Ukraine so this was an easy choice.

Daniel Mojsov
The partner to Sikov at CB was a little more difficult as it came down to Daniel Mojsov or Nikolce Noveski.  Mojsov had three appearances with one goal while Noveski had five appearances without a goal during August but because of the goal, we gave the slight edge to Mojsov.

Goran Popov
Speaking of easy, Goran Popov was a no brainer as the choice at LB.  He made seven appearances for Dynamo Kyiv during August and scored one goal with two assists.  His club reached the group stages of the Europa League and is tied for first place on the table in the Ukrainian top division.

Agim Ibraimi
Starting at right midfield will be Agim Ibraimi of Maribor.  He starts at this position for the Slovenian club and Agim had a very good month of August with three goals and three assists.  His great form played a big part in Maribor reaching the group stages of the Europa League.

Muhamed Demiri
Demiri will be one of the players to start in central midfield.  Demiri played in a six games for Thun and had one assist during August.  His club reached the play-off round of the Europa League before losing to Stoke.  They are also near the top of the table in Switzerland.

Slavco Georgievski
The other player in central midfield will be Slavco Georgievski from Neftçi.  Georgievski played in three games during the month and scored one goal and also had an assist.

Ivan Trickovski
Ivan Trickovski was chosen to start in left midfield.  Tricko is usually deployed as a left winger but he also has the ability to play in left midfield.  Ivan did not score a goal in August but he provided three assists in five games for APOEL this month and was instrumental in leading his club to reach the group stages of the Champions League.

Ilija Nestorovski
This spot came down to Aleksandar Trajkovski or Ilija Nestorovski but we felt Ilija was more deserving as he had two goals and two assists in August while Trajkovski had one goal without an assist.  Therefore, we decided to give the edge to Nestorovski.

Stevica Ristić
Another easy choice on the team of the month was Stevica Ristić who scored three goals in five appearances for Suwon during August.
