Stavrev brought luck to BATE

Aleksandar Stavrev and his assistants were part of the historic match for BATE Borisov who beat Bayern München in the Champions League.

Six Macedonian referees were part of today’s games of the Round 2 in the group stage of the Champions League. All of them were in Minsk where they participated in what happened to be a historic night for BATE Borisov who managed to beat last season’s finalists Bayern München with 3:1.

Aleksandar Stavrev as main referee, Marjan Kirovski and Dejan Kostadinov as assistants, Igor Shirilov as fourth official and additional assistant referees Dimitar Mechkarovski and Goran Spirkoski were part of the big night in Minsk. Stavrev showed 7 cards, all of them yellow (3 to BATE and 4 to Bayern), Kirovski and Kostadinov waved for offside in 5 occasions (2 for BATE and 3 for Bayern), while 26 fouls were registered (16 commited by BATE, 10 by Bayern).

The champions of Belarus recorded their second win and now after two rounds are topping the table in Group F.
