Aleksandar Stankov continued his good form in the early parts of the Danish season by picking up a goal and an assist in today’s 2:2 draw between Viborg and Brøndby.
The 22-year-old Aleksandar Stankov started in attack for Viborg where he was partnered by Thomas Dalgaard. Several minutes before halftime, with the score still goalless, Stankov reacted the quickest following a free kick and sent a header to the back of the net. It was Aleksandar’s second goal in the opening four rounds of the 2013-14 season.
In the 2nd half, with the game now tied at 1:1 in the 79th minute, Stankov’s pass on the counter attack reached his strike partner Dalgaard who took several dribbles before slotting a shot past the visiting keeper. Moments after Viborg’s second goal, Stankov was substituted by Markus Gustafsson.
Viborg, however, could not hold on to their slim lead as they conceded the equalizing goal in stoppage time of the 90th minute. The newly promoted side has now collected three draws and a loss in the opening four rounds of the Danish campaign.
