Stefan Spirovski and Borac Čačak were defeated 2:0 in the Serbian Cup final against Crvena Zvezda.
Stefan Spirovski started for Borac Čačak as a defensive midfielder in a 4-1-3-2 formation. Spirovski played until the 59th minute when he was substituted by William Alves. Crvena Zvezda managed to score one goal in each half to win the domestic cup trophy.
Meanwhile, Borac Čačak had an odd season in which they have already clinched relegation to the Serbian second division by finishing second from bottom on the table, but somehow reached the domestic cup final. However, with today’s loss, Borac Čačak has nothing to show for that feat.
Spirovski was one of the players that manager John Toshack promoted from the U21 national team to the senior squad for the two friendlies in late May. However, this will be the second time that Spirovski was summoned to the senior national team as he debuted last August in a friendly away to Azerbaijan when Boban Babunski served as the interim manager. Toshack was just hired as manager days earlier so FFM had Babunski serve as the interim for that friendly and Boban decided to call up several players from the U21 national team, including Spirovski.
