New team in the Macedonian women’s football emerged these days as Skopje’s side Sloboden started gathering female players.

The club that competes in the 4.MFL Kisela Voda with his men’s team is now making itself known in the women’s footballing community as well. WFC Sloboden will compete next 2024/25 season in the Macedonian second women’s league (2.WFL), which is the lowest at the moment as it was launched only 4 years ago. It is great to see that the women’s football in Macedonia is slowly but surely growing. Although the league started more than 20 years ago, only from the 2021/22 season there were enough teams to be created a second league. Now, with Sloboden added, that league should have 9 teams next season.
What we already know is that the new club has a logo almost identical as the men’s team and has already found a coach in not just anyone, but former Macedonian national team player Hristina Arsova. The team already has several players and is looking to compile a squad this summer. The Aerodrom based club is open to any female footballers not just from Aerodrom but from Centar, Karposh, Chair, Kisela Voda, Vlae and other Skopje neighborhoods as well as they held training sessions on various locations.
From Sloboden informed us that they have applied at the Municipality of Aerodrom to use the AMS Reonski Centar stadium for home matches as they will be the lone women’s team in Skopje’s most populated municipality. AMS Reonski Centar is currently being renovated with new grass field being installed.

In the upcoming season MacedonianFootball will for the first time exclusively cover both women’s leagues, the 1.WFL and the 2.WFL with tables, fixtures, results and scorers. Last season champion and cup winner was Ljuboten from Tetovo. Relegated was Cevitana, while Atletiko got promoted.
