Sedat Berisha transfers to Bursaspor

Bursaspor, a Turkish top division club, has secured the services of Shkendija defender Sedat Berisha.

The 25-year-old Sedat Berisha, a central defender, will transfer to Bursaspor, according to an article on Shkendija’s website. This is a very surprising move since Berisha was not a regular at the Tetovo based club. Instead, he was mostly a bench player as Shkendija fielded Artim Polozhani and Egzon Bejtulai as their center-back pairing. Even on forums, many Shkendija fans were critical of Berisha’s play.

Therefore, this move is puzzling on Bursaspor’s part. Bursaspor won the league trophy in Turkey back in the 2009-10 season, and finished this past season in a respectable 6th place. They are a quality team in the Turkish league, so they must have liked Berisha to bring him to their club.

Sedat Berisha has formerly been capped by the Macedonian national team. He has played once for Macedonia, coming in a friendly versus Poland back in 2012. That was a match where then manager Chedomir Janevski used domestic league players. Macedonia lost that friendly 4:1 to Poland. Since then, Berisha has not been called up to any Macedonian squad.
