A spectacle for the Australian-Macedonian community as Rockdale City Suns will face Melbourne Victory in the Round of 16 in the FFA Cup.
Dream draw for Rockdale City Suns. Earlier today, the Suns found out that their next opponent will be the best Australian team, the defending champion Melbourne Victory. It will most likely end their run in the FFA Cup, but they will get a chance to test themselves against great competition.
Rockdale had to eliminate 5 opponents in order to reach this stage, something that no other Macedonian-Australian club has done so far.
The date for the big game will be announced on Friday. There are four possible dates: August 25-26 or September 1-2. The venue for the match remains unclear. Rockdale’s Ilinden Sports Center has a maximum capacity of 5.000, but that includes only 500 seats. The game will surely attract big interest from the local Macedonian community, sp a move to a bigger stadium within Sydney is a strong possibility.
Melbourne Victory happens to be the club of Macedonian national team player Daniel Georgievski.
