After the long winter break, the Second League will resume play with the start of the second half of the season. The interesting battle for promotion continues as six teams are fighting for two direct promotion places and two play-off places.
With all the games scheduled for Saturday at 14.00 CET, the Second League will get underway before the First League. During the winter break, FFM decided to switch the days for the top two leagues so from now on, the First League matches will be played on Sunday, while the Second League games will be played a day earlier on Saturday.
With half of the games already played, there will be a hard fought battle for the promotion and play-off places. Drita, the surprise of the season, together with Makedonija Gjorce Petrov (who played under the name Treska in the first half) top the table with the same number of points. Behind them are Skopje and Pelister who have one fewer point while an additional two teams in Miravci and Tikves are just three points behind the leaders. These six teams are expected to continue the interesting battle into the second half with the intent of securing promotion into the top league.
The relegation battle, on the other hand, is a little bit different as five teams will get relegated this season. Clubs like Belasica and Rufeja already seem headed to the Third Leagues after a disastrous first half, Korab and Osogovo also find themselves in a tough position, while Ohrid Lote, Lokomotiva, Vlaznimi, Gostivar and Pobeda Junior will look to avoid becoming that potential fifth team that gets relegated. Gorno Lisice, for now, seems safe in the middle of the table.
