Round 18

Preview: Macedonian First League – Round 18

Round 18 The last round of the first half of the season is on tap for this weekend and one thing is certain – the top of the table will remain unchanged until at least March of next year.

Vardar has a five points advantage over second placed Metalurg and will celebrate the ‘autumn title’ in the home match against Bregalnica on Sunday.  The visiting club from Stip has been on a great run as they have gone nine consecutive league games without a loss so this should be a interesting encounter between two red hot temas.  Metalurg will be looking to keep up with Vardar when they host Ohrid who has hit a bump in recent times by going without a win in the previous four games.  Shkendija, the third placed team, will face Sileks at home and the Tetovo based club will be expecting three points since they are a difficult side to beat in front of their fans.

In the other games, last placed 11 Oktomvri hosts Napredok with the hope of recording a much needed victory before the long winter break gets underway in Macedonia.  Napredok has been struggling as of late so the home side should fancy their chances in this game.  Meanwhile, Renova visits Horizont Turnovo who has been inconsistent all season but can be a tricky opponent at home. Lastly, Rabotnicki, who finally snapped their long losing streak in the last round against 11 Oktomvri, will visit Tetovo to face Teteks.  These two teams are ranked in ninth and tenth place on the table so both clubs will look to close the first half of the season on a positive note.
