Six matches today and one tomorrow will be played to conclude the first leg games from the Round of 16 of the Macedonian Cup.  The highest profile clash is the match between Rabotnicki and Metalurg.

One of the favorites to win the Macedonian Cup will be eliminated after this round as Rabotnicki and Metalurg were drawn to face one another.  The defending domestic cup champions Metalurg will be trying to eliminate Rabotnicki on their way to possibly repeating the feat.  However, Rabotnicki has high expectations this season and wants to win both the league title and domestic cup so this should be an interesting matchup.  The first match will be played at the Filip II Arena with Rabotnicki as the hosts.

In the other games, second division sides Skopje, Pelister, Miravci and Tikves (who’s game is scheduled for Thursday) will be going on the road for the first legs to face top division clubs.  They will each attempt to repeat the result of Gostivar who just surprised Renova yesterday by winning 1:0 on the road.  In particular, Vardar vs. Tikves should be a good matchup as Vardar will be trying to get some revenge on Tikves who eliminated Vardar from the competition last season.

The top league clashes of Sileks – Teteks and Shkendija – Bregalnica will be interesting as well since all the teams possess similar quality with the exception of Shkendija but as we have already seen, anything can happen during these cup matches, especially if Shkendija underestimates Bregalnica.  Also, keep in mind that Bregalnica recently defeated Iraklis in a friendly so they have some talented players but they have underachieved in the early part of the season.
