The Macedonian federation has started to upgrade the “Petar Miloshevski” training center which will soon be transformed into a mini stadium where even the U21 national team will be allowed to host qualification games.
Construction work has already begun at one of the two grounds that make up the training center “Petar Miloshevski” near the headquarters of the Football Federation of Macedonia. A whole new stand is being built behind the western goal which will increase the capacity up to 1.500 seats. Also, new locker rooms, places for officials and VIP guests, along with a modern fitness center will be added. With all these new additions, the future stadium will fall into a “UEFA category 2” venue, which means that it will meet the criteria to host official matches for the youth national teams along with Champions League and Europa League qualification games in the first several rounds.
Thus far, that pitch was used by the youth national teams (up to U19 squad), the women’s various national teams (including the senior team) and Metalurg, the First League side. Metalurg’s own stadium failed to satisfy the new criteria for hosting First League matches this season, so it was forced to look for other solutions. Therefore, several of their home games this season were played on that pitch.
