Pelister got points from Ohrid Lote match, officially promoted

Pelister during the winter training campPelister received the 3 points from the match against Ohrid Lote two rounds ago when the visitors failed to show up, and thus the club from Bitola was officially promoted to the First League.

It was just a formality for the Bitola based team, but it has now been made official.  Mile Spirkoski, the commissioner for overseeing matches at the FFM, has awarded an automatic 3:0 victory to Pelister for the match against Ohrid Lote in the 26th round that was not played due to the visitors not showing up to Bitola on two different occasions.  As a reminder, the match was supposed to be played on Saturday, but Ohrid Lote reported a problem with the team bus and asked for the match to be postponed until the next day.  That was accepted by both FFM and Pelister, but Ohrid Lote failed to show up the next day as well.

Since that happened, Pelister lost to Euromilk but won against third placed Miravci in the next two rounds to officially clinch promotion to the First League.  Pelister and Drita will be the two clubs to win direct promotion since both of them have a seven point advantage over the closest teams on the table with just two rounds remaining until the end of the season.

Pelister was relegated last season, but quickly was able to win promotion back to the First League after just one year.  The club focused on home grown players to succeed this season and hired former players in the management to return on the right track.  At the moment, former central defender Mile Dimov is the interim manager of the club after Marjan Sekulovski, from Bitola, left Pelister due to a good financial offer from Myanmar.  In the final two rounds of the season, Pelister plays against Gostivar on the road and then hosts Drita in the final game.

As for Ohrid Lote, the club was sent to the lowest tier of Macedonian football.  Besides Pelister, Ohrid Lote also failed to show up for yesterday’s game away to Lokomotiva so the club was automatically send to the lowest league, just as was the case with Makedonija Gjorche Petrov and Sloga Jugomagnat a couple of seasons ago.  Lokomotiva, like Pelister, also received an automatic 3:0 win and those three points meant that the club is now save from being relegated.
