Partizan is soon expected to sell CB Stefan Savić to Manchester City and they are tracking four CB’s as a possible replacement for Savić including Mojsov and Grncarov.
The four defenders that Partizan is considering to replace Savić are Milan Stepanov, Slobodan Rajković, Daniel Mojsov, and Boban Grncarov. Mojsov had a great season this past year and was named as the top defender in the Serbian league while playing for Vojvodina. Mojsov is considered the top target for Partizan because of his age and ability but the biggest problem with Partizan signing Mojsov will be the asking price. Mojsov is under contract and his current club Vojvodina is looking for at least a couple of million euros. As for Grncarov, Partizan has an advantage in choosing Grncarov among the four defenders because he is a free agent unlike the other three players who will demand a transfer fee to their respective clubs.
Earlier this week, Grncarov was strongly linked with Belgian club Lierse and they remain in play for his services along with Partizan. Another benefit with signing Grncarov is that he has Champions League experience as he played in the group stages during the 2009-2010 season with APOEL. The new CB signing will partner Bulgarian Ivan Ivanov in the center of Partizan’s defense. Keep in mind that Partizan will play against the Macedonian champions Shkendija beginning on 13 July 2011 in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. Partizan features another Macedonian international in Aleksandar Lazevski who is currently out with a nagging injury that has kept him on the sidelines for months.
