Two big surprises in the opening round as second league sides Kit-Go and Tikvesh eliminated Shkupi and Renova. Vardar, Rabotnichki, Sileks and Belasica had no problems, Bregalnica recorded the biggest win, while only Teteks and Gostivar went to penalty kicks.

Probably the biggest surprise took place in Pehchevo where Kit-Go knocked-out Shkupi, one of the trophy candidates. The winner came just 13 minutes from kick-off thanks to Martin Stojanov, but the hosts played with ten men since the 22nd minute when keeper Mirza Durakovikj was shown a direct red card. Despite the player advantage, Shkupi failed to score and even conceded a second goal in the injury time.
The other big surprise was in Kavadraci where Tikvesh eliminated 2012 winners Renova. Tikvesh was leading after 45 minutes, but Renova equalized halfway through the second half. The winner came 13 minutes from time thanks to Ivan Ivanovski.
Highlights of Tikvesh – Renova:
Five times winners Vardar, who haven’t played in a final since 2007, easily defeated third league side Vardar away in Forino despite featuring a combined team. Without problem recording high wins managed also to do Rabotnichki and Sileks.
Highlights of Bratstvo-Vlaznimi – Sileks:
The biggest win however was recorded by Bregalnica who score eight goals past fourth league side Poeshevo. Interestingly, for the losing side whole 90 minutes played former national team players Goran Stavrevski and Toni Micevski who are now 44 and 48 years old.
The only match where the winner had to be decided with penalties was the encounter between second league West rivals Teteks and Gostivar. The visitors edged Teteks with 4:3 at the end.
A penalty kick decided the winner at the match played in debar between the teams of Korabi and Borec. It was the home fans that went jubilant after the final whistle.
