Noveski wants to continue playing

Defender Nikolche Noveski has no plans to retire this summer after Mainz decided not to renew his contract.

Nikolche Noveski, 36, is currently on vacation in his hometown of Bitola. While there, German newspaper “Kicker” got in touch with him. When asked about his future, Noveski said that he wants to continue playing. He still feels that he can help a team because he takes good care of his body.

Noveski, who has spent his entire career in Germany after his initial beginning with Pelister, kept open the possibility that he may sign outside of that country. Noveski simply noted to “Kicker” that Germany was an option, but he would consider other leagues as well. He will decide what is the best opportunity for him since he wants to play regularly.

Despite this declaration that Noveski wants to keep on playing, don’t expect him to return to the national team. Manager Ljubinko Drulović already ruled that out, citing his age. Instead, Drulović and the Macedonian federation want to honor Noveski at the Spain qualifier on September 8 of this year.

September 8 is Independence Day in Macedonia, so that qualifier against a European powerhouse falls on a special day. FFM wants to give Noveski a special send-off on that date for all of his contributions to the national team and Macedonian football as a whole.
