FFM declared that the contract with Dobrinko Ilievski was terminated on mutual agreement. He did not last long as was hired in July of 2018 and only finished the 2019 EURO qualifiers. He defeated Gibraltar at home (6:1), drew Armenia at home (3:3), and lost on the road against Serbia (2:1) and Russia (5:1). He also played two road friendlies in Montenegro where his team got defeated by Serbia (1:0) but later won against the hosts team (2:0).
Milevski quit the U21 national team after the team did not performed well in the last qualifiers. Previously, he lead the U21s to a historic appearance at the 2017 EURO in Poland. He accepted a coaching job in Israel where he lead Ashdod, the club where he played three seasons, but that adventure did not last long as after recording 2 wins, 3 draws and 5 defeats.
“This will probably be one of the hardest tasks in my career, but I am here. I couldn’t say no to the national team. The boys have quality, I know that we can do a good job as I would never accept a challenge if I had no faith in my players and in my work. I hope we will get decent results.” – Milevski told the official web site of FFM.
“I was nice to share the memories with Bobi about the great time during his coaching of the U21 team in the past. Reaching the EURO in Poland is prove that everyone that was part of that team did a great job. I am happy that we had a good discussion about what we can achieve in the future and together to strive for new victories. I wish him success, and I believe that luck will be on our side in the next qualifiers. We as federation will do everything for the team to have great working conditions.” – were the words of acting president Muamed Sejdini.
Milevski previously lead the U21s for almost four years, from September 2014 until May 2018.
