Nikolce Noveski and Mainz were surprisingly eliminated from the German Cup; photo: ran.deIvan Trickovski scored a hat-trick for APOEL, Goran Pandev had a goal and two assists for Napoli, Hristijan Kirovski scored a quick goal for Apollon, while Nikolce Noveski and Mainz were eliminated from the German Cup.

Italy, Serie A, Napoli – Genoa 6:1
Goran Pandev started for Napoli and played until the 77th minute when he was replaced by Cristiano Lucarelli.  Pandev made a nice contribution in the comfortable win for Napoli by scoring a goal and playing a part in two more goals.  First, in the 12th minute, Pandev made a run towards goal and found Marek Hamsik whose first effort was blocked but he scored on the rebound.  In the 24th minute, Goran sent a through ball to Edinson Cavani who was ruled onside by the assistant referee before scoring a nice goal with a clever chip over the Genoa keeper.  Finally, just before halftime, Pandev scored a goal himself after the Genoa defenders did a terrible job of closing down Pandev on a counter attack who slotted a left footed shot from the edge of the area past the visiting keeper.

Germany, DFB-Pokal, Holstein Kiel – Mainz 05 2:0
Nikolce Noveski played the entire game for Mainz who was eliminated from the German Cup by losing to a team from the fourth division.  The home side scored a goal in each half to defeat Mainz and advance to the next round of the competition.

Belgium, Cofidis Cup, Kortrijk – Beerschot 2:0
Tome Pacovski played from the start for Beerschot and conceded two goals.  Kortjirk opened the scoring in the 80th minute from a penalty and then added a second goal four minutes later with an effort from close range.  The return leg of this matchup will be played on 18 January of next year as Beerschot will need a convincing home win to revert this deficit from the first leg.

Belgium, Cofidis Cup, Lierse – Standard Liège 1:2
Boban Grncarov played all 90 minutes for Lierse who suffered a narrow home loss in the first leg of their quarter-final matchup against Standard Liège.  The return leg on 18 January 2012 will decide this matchup as Lierse must find a way to collect a victory and score at least two goals.

Cyprus, Marfin Laiki League, APOEL – AEK Larnaca 3:0
Ivan Trickovski played the entire game for APOEL and was instrumental in the win by scoring a hat-trick.  Trickovski opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when his shot from the edge of the area took a slight deflection before going past the AEK Larnaca keeper.  In the 80th minute, Ivan received a throw in from the left before scoring with a nice chip over the keeper while Tricko completed the 3:0 scoreline in stoppage time with another shot that took a deflection before reaching the back of the net.

Cyprus, Marfin Laiki League, Alki – Omonia 0:3
Nikola Gligorov played all 90 minutes for Alki who suffered a convincing home loss against the second placed team on the table in Cyprus.

Cyprus, Marfin Laiki League, Ermis – Apollon 0:2
Hristijan Kirovski started on the bench for Apollon before he entered the game in the 89th minute replacing Mame Cissokho.  Moments later, Kirovski cemented the win for Apollon by scoring a goal in the 90th minute with a shot past the opposing keeper.

Cyprus, Marfin Laiki League, Aris Limassol – Enosis 1:0
Bojan Markoski played the entire game for Enosis while his teammate Petar Milosevski was an unused substitute as he was the #2 keeper behind Georgi Petkov.  Enosis suffered a narrow loss with the lone goal being scored in the 11th minute from a converted penalty kick.

France, Ligue 2, Amiens – Nantes 0:2
Vlade Lazarevski was not called up by Amiens.

Greece, Football Cup OPAP, Platanias – Kerkyra 0:3
Goran Maznov played all 90 minutes for Kerkyra who cruised to a comfortable road victory over Platanias to advance to the next round of the Greek Cup.

Greece, Football Cup OPAP, Pontioi – Skoda Xanthi 0:2
Marjan Altiparmakovski started on the bench for Skoda Xanthi before he entered the game in the 83rd minute replacing Marcelinho.

Netherlands, KNVB Beker, Heerenveen – Oss 11:1
Samir Fazli was an unused substitute for Heerenveen while neither Antonio Stankov nor his twin brother, Aleksandar Stankov, were called up by Oss.  Heerenveen easily advanced to the next round of the Dutch Cup by scoring eleven goals against Oss.

Netherlands, KNVB Beker, Heracles – De Graafschap 4:0
Dzelil Abdula began the game on the bench for De Graafschap before he came on in the 25th minute replacing the injured Vito Wormgoor.  On the third goal for Heracles in the 41st minute, Abdula made a bad clearance and that ultimately led to a bicycle kick goal by Samuel Armenteros.

Azerbaijan, Unibank Premyer Liqası, Neftçi – Kapaz 2:0
Igor Mitreski started for Neftçi and played until the 55th minute when he received a red card (second yellow card of game) for unsportsmanlike conduct while his teammate Slavco Georgievski also got the start and played the entire game.  Neftçi concluded the first half of the season in Azerbaijan with a home victory to remain in first place on the table.

Azerbaijan, Unibank Premyer Liqası, Ravan – AZAL 3:1
Robert Petrov played all 90 minutes for AZAL and also received a yellow card in the 59th minute.

Azerbaijan, Unibank Premyer Liqası, Gabala – Qarabağ 0:0
Nderim Nedzipi started on the bench for Qarabağ before he entered the game in the 68th minute replacing Rauf Aliyev.  His team closed the first half of the season with a goalless draw.
