Midweek internationals performances

Ivan Trickovski (in yellow); photo: 24sports.com.cyIvan Trickovski scored a goal for APOEL to help his side win a point against Shakhtar Donetsk, Stevica Ristić won a penalty for Suwon to propel them to the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League, while Aleksandar Todorovski made his fourth consecutive start for Polonia Warszawa.

UEFA Champions League, Group A, Napoli – Villarreal 2:0
Goran Pandev started on the bench for Napoli before he entered the game in the 71st minute replacing Edinson Cavani.  Napoli was focused on defending their lead so they failed to create many opportunities.  Pandev was briefly through on goal in the 88th minute but he was just offside.

UEFA Champions League, Group G, Shakhtar Donetsk – APOEL 1:1
Ivan Trickovski played the entire game for APOEL and scored the lone goal for APOEL in the 61st minute.  Trickovski played a nice one-two with teammate Constantinos Charalambides before slotting the ball past the opposing keeper.  Ivan was named as the best player of the game by the player rater on UEFA.com.  After the game, Ivan complained of an ankle injury and has already been ruled out by APOEL for Sunday’s game against Apollon.

UEFA Europa League, Group E, Maccabi Tel-Aviv – Dynamo Kyiv 1:1
Goran Popov played all 90 minutes for Dynamo Kyiv who took the early lead in the 10th minute before the home side scored the equalizer just before halftime.  Dynamo Kyiv has now drawn both games in the Europa League and finds itself in third place with two points, trailing Stoke City and Beşiktaş who have three points apiece.

UEFA Europa League, Group H, Maribor – Birmingham City 1:2
Agim Ibraimi started on the bench for Maribor before he entered the game in the 71st minute replacing Goran Cvijanović.  Ibraimi was a serious doubt going into the game because of an injury but he managed to play about 20 minutes.  However, Maribor suffered a slim loss to remain winless after two games in Group H of the Europa League.

AFC Champions League, Zob Ahan – Suwon 1:2
Stevica Ristić played the entire game for Suwon who advanced to the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League.  The match ended 1:1 after 90 minutes so it went into extra time considering the first leg of this matchup also ended 1:1.  In the 99th minute of extra time, Ristić was fouled in the box following a free kick played in the box.  It seemed to be a weak penalty but the referee pointed to the spot.  One of Stevica’s teammates converted the penalty and Suwon held on to record the dramatic victory.  Suwon will face Al-Sadd from Qatar in the semi-finals.

Ukraine, Premyer-Liha, Metalurh Donetsk – Karpaty 2:1
Martin Bogatinov was not called up by Karpaty Lviv as Andriy Tlumak started in goal while Oleksandr Ilyuschenkov was on the bench as the #2 keeper.  For Metalurh Donetsk, Mario Gjurovski was also not among the 18 players called up for this game.

Russia, Perviy Divizion, Luch-Energiya – Sibir 1:0
Velice Sumulikoski started for Sibir and played until the 71st minute when he was replaced by Vasili Karmazinenko.  This was a tough loss as it hurts their chances of possible promotion.

Russia, Perviy Divizion, Torpedo Moskva – Fakel 2:0
Artim Polozani was not among the 18 players called up by Torpedo Moskva.

Russia, Perviy Divizion, Volgar-Gazprom – Chernomorets 2:2
Nikola Tonev was not called up by Volgar-Gazprom.

Poland, T-Mobile Ekstraklasa, Polonia Warszawa – Korona Kielce 0:0
Aleksandar Todorovski played all 90 minutes for Polonia Warszawa in what turned out to be a very heated game with a total of eight yellow cards between the two teams.  Todorovski made a nice cross, from the right, in the 51st minute which reached one of his teammates whose header from a good position went over the goal.  This was Aleksandar’s fourth consecutive start for Polonia.

Poland, Puchar Polski, Podbeskidzie – GKS Bełchatów 3:0
Zlatko Tanevski played the entire game for GKS Bełchatów who were eliminated from the Polish Cup with their opponents scoring all three goals in the 1st half.

Denmark, Superliga, AaB – Lyngby 1:2
Bajram Fetai began the game on the bench for Lyngby before he came on in the 80th minute replacing David Boysen.  Lyngby collected a slim victory to snap their four game losing streak in league play.  Several days later, Fetai scored two goals for the reserve team of Lyngby.

Cyprus, Marfin Laiki League, Olympiacos Nicosia – Apollon 0:0
Hristijan Kirovski started on the bench for Apollon before he entered the game in the 85th minute replacing Portuguese striker João Paulo.

Slovakia, Slovenský Pohár, Košice – Nitra 2:1
Darko Tofiloski did not play for Košice as Fernando López started in goal and conceded one goal.  With the win, Košice advanced to the next round of the Slovak Cup.

Serbia, Lav Kup Srbije, Sinđelić Niš – Jagodina 1:2
Dragan Stojkov did not play for Jagodina who advanced to the next round of the domestic cup.

Slovenia, 1. SNL, Gorica – Olimpija Ljubljana 2:1
Dragan Cadikovski started for Olimpija Ljubljana and played until the 71st minute when he was replaced by Stefan Smiljanić.  The visitors scored their lone goal in the 84th minute but it wasn’t enough as they still suffered a narrow defeat.

Slovenia, 1. SNL, Koper – Celje 1:2
Filip Timov was not called up by Koper.

Switzerland, Challenge League, St. Gallen – Kriens 3:2
Robert Popov did not play for Kriens because of an injury.
