Goran Pandev and Inter eliminate Chelsea in the Champions League, while Aleksandar Mitreski did not play for his team because of an injury.
Champions League, Chelsea – Inter 0:1
Goran Pandev started on the left wing in Inter’s 4-2-3-1 formation. It was surprising to see Inter start with such an attacking minded lineup since they had a 2:1 aggregate advantage coming into the game but Inter manager Jose Mourinho said it was impossible to go into Stamford Bridge and play defensive and expect the game to finish 0:0. Pandev had to be a team player and was asked to help out in defense and had a very solid game. Goran should have done better in the 59th minute but he waited too long to shoot and his shot was eventually blocked by Russian international Yuri Zhirkov. He was substituted in the 75th minute when Dejan Stankovic took his place. After the game, Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti praised Pandev by saying that he held back their full-backs and put a lot of pressure on the midfielders which prevented Chelsea from playing their game.
Romania, Liga I, Brasov – International 1:2
Dusan Savic started on the bench for Brasov before he came on in the 70th minute replacing Sburlea. Brasov took the lead in the 11th minute but couldn’t hold on as the visitors equalized in the 29th minute before they scored the game winner in the 78th minute. Savic was fairly quiet for the 20 minutes that he was on the pitch.
