Several Macedonian internationals were active in midweek matches and here is how they did:
Italy, Coppa Italia, Inter – Fiorentina 1:0
Goran Pandev started on the bench but came on at the start of the 2nd half replacing Sulley Muntari. Inter shifted to a 4-2-3-1 when Pandev entered the game after playing a 4-3-1-2 in the 1st half. Pandev had a great chance in the 57th minute after a great pass from Balotelli but Fiorentina’s keeper Sebastien Frey made a great save. Pandev also had a chance in the 90th minute but his shot was off the mark.
Netherlands, Eredivisie, Venlo – Heerenveen 3:1
Goran Popov did not play for Heerenveen. Venlo scored three goals in a five minute stretch early in the first half to take a 3:0 lead before Heerenveen pulled one back to make it 3:1. Heerenveen is now 13th place in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Belgium, Jupiler League, Mechelen – Germinal Beerschot 1:0
Tome Pacovski and his team Germinal Beerschot continue to struggle as this was their 4th loss in a row.
England, League Championship, Preston North End – Barnsley 1:4
Preston was thrashed at home by Barnsley as Velice Sumulikoski was once again left out of the team.
Cyprus, Protathlima A’Katigopias, Nea Salamis – Enosis Neon Paralimni 0:0
Petar Milosevski, Bojan Markovski, and Ivan Trickovski played all 90 minutes for the visitors who failed to beat the last place team in Cyprus. Cedomir Janevski was not happy with his team as he thought they played not to lose instead of being aggressive and playing to win.
Cyprus, Cypriot Cup, APOEL – Ermis Aradippou 5:0
Boban Grncarov played all 90 minutes for APOEL as they destroyed Ermis.
Israel, Ligat HaAl, Maccabi Petah Tikva – Maccabi Haifa 0:1
Vanco Trajanov started on the bench for Maccabi Petah Tikva before he came on in the 83rd minute replacing Yehiel Avi.
Club friendly, Mattersburg – Red Star Belgrade 1:0
Goce Sedloski played the entire 2nd half for Mattersburg while Ostoja Stjepanovic didn’t come on until the 54th minute. Ilco Naumoski continues to be bothered by a knee injury and wasn’t risked in this game.
Club Friendly, Aarau – Lausanne Sports 0:1
Aco Stojkov was rested by Aarau who played their last club friendly as they now turn their attention to the Swiss Super League which resumes this Sunday for Aarau. This game was called off in the 48th minute because of snow but the visitors had the 1:0 lead.
