Brisbane Roar has confirmed the addition of Mensur Kurtishi to their squad for the Hyundai A-League 2014/15 season.

The 28-year-old joins the three-time Hyundai A-League Champions following stints in Austria, UAE, Iran, Kazakhstan and Macedonia, signing a one-year contract. His last club before moving to Australia was Shkendija.

Since arriving in Australia last Wednesday, Kurtishi has been training with the Roar squad and Head Coach Mike Mulvey is confident the striker will fit the club’s style of play.

‘Mensur has trained with us for a few sessions now,’ Mulvey said. ‘He’s clicked well with the other players and it’s clear that he understands our system and the way we want to play football. He is a proven goal-scorer with an excellent goals-to-game ratio and we’re confident he’ll enjoy it here in Brisbane, both on and off the field.’

Kurtishi was equally excited about his new challenge with the reigning Premiers and Champions, saying his teammates had already made him feel very welcome.

‘I’m very happy to be here,’ Kurtišhi said. ‘Brisbane is a great team and the guys here have been very friendly since I arrived. ‘I’ve watched games from last season and like the way the team plays football. I’m looking forward to playing for Brisbane Roar.’

Kurtishi will shortly travel to Europe next week as he will get married but will return to Queensland shortly after, meaning he could make his club debut in the FFA Cup clash away to Stirling Lions or at the Townsville Football Cup.
