Mecinovic has fractured bone in foot

The injury by Jasmin Mecinovic is more serious than initially believed after an MRI showed that the central defender has fractured a bone in his foot.

Jasmin Mecinovic suffered the injury while playing for Sogndal in the home encounter against Hønefoss on 1 April.  The initial thoughts were that Mecinovic would only miss around two weeks but an MRI showed a much more serious injury with a fractured bone in the foot.

The Sogndal medical coordinator Kim Are Jacobsen told newspaper Sogn Avis the following, “Jasmin underwent an MRI in Bergen and it showed a fractured bone in the foot.  It will take at least six weeks after the injury occurred for him to be ready again.”

Sogndal expects Mecinovic to return in mid May and miss the next five league games.  In addition, Mecinovic, who is a regular member of the Macedonian U21 national team, will also miss the U21 qualifier between Macedonia and Northern Ireland on 10 May due to the foot injury.
