Macedonians learn Europa League group stage fate

Seven Macedonian footballers will take part in the Europa League group stage this season. Today’s draw gave them the names of the opponents they will have to face. Elmas and Ademi were drawn in the same group, same as Iliev and Ristovski.

Ivan Trichkovski and Daniel Mojsov got unattractive but tough group. Their team will make its debut in the group stage while two Macedonians playing for a same club in a group stage happens again with a Cypriot club after Boban Grncharov and Ivan Trichkovski played in the Champions League with APOEL in the 2011/12 season.

Arijan Ademi will face Elif Elmas in the group stage as today’s draw placed their clubs in the Group D. It will definitely be interesting to see those matches.

Stefan Ristovski and his Sporting were drawn to face Premier League giants Arsenal. It will be a great experience for Stefan as his club is expected to advance having in mind the other two opponents. Keeper Dejan Iliev is at Arsenal and is expected to be on the UEFA list but as third choice keeper.

Boban Nikolov and Hungarian champion Vidi will have the honor to play against Chelsea. Obviously, they will fight for the second place with PAOK and BATE.
