Italy, Supercoppa, Milan – Inter 2:1
Goran Pandev was an unused substitute for Inter who lost the Italian Super Cup against their heated rivals Milan.  The game was played in China and Inter initially took the lead in the 22nd minute when Wesley Sneijder scored directly from a free kick but Milan bounced back and scored two goals in the 2nd half to win their first trophy of the season.  Pandev has played well this preseason and with Inter down 2:1 after the 69th minute, they needed some added creativity but Inter manager Gian Piero Gasperini brought on Gianpaolo Pazzini and Luc Castaignos while leaving Pandev on the bench.  Things will not get easier as Diego Milito will soon return and that’s another striker that appears ahead of Pandev on the depth chart so it might be best for both Goran and Inter to go their separate ways.

Germany, 1. Bundesliga, Mainz 05 – Bayer Leverkusen 2:0
Nikolce Noveski played the entire game for Mainz and helped his side hold a clean sheet against Bayer Leverkusen.  Mainz was surprisingly eliminated from the Europa League this past Thursday but they bounced back and defeated the second placed team from the Bundesliga last season in the opening round of games in Germany.

Ukraine, Premyer-Liha, Dynamo Kyiv – Karpaty Lviv 2:0
Goran Popov played from the start for Dynamo Kyiv while Martin Bogatinov was an unused substitute for Karpaty Lviv as he has lost his starting keeper job to Andriy Tlumak.  Popov played a part in the first goal of the game as his cross from the left was dropped by the Karpaty Lviv keeper and that allowed Andriy Shevchenko to score a fortunate goal from close range.  The Karpaty Lviv manager is playing musical chairs with the goalkeeper position and that has hurt the confidence of both keepers.  It seems a keeper makes a mistake and then the manager switches keepers for the next game so that has led to both keepers trying to play perfect and that pressure usually leads to more mistakes.

The Karpaty keeper drops Popov’s cross which leads to a goal:

Ukraine, Premyer-Liha, Illichivets – Volyn Lutsk 1:2
Vance Sikov played all 90 minutes for Volyn Lutsk who recorded a narrow road victory over Illichivets.  After five rounds, Volyn Lutsk has scored a total of six goals as a team and all of them have been scored by Brazilian striker Maicon Oliveira who added two more goals in this game.

Ukraine, Premyer-Liha, Zorya – Metalurh Donetsk 1:0
Mario Gjurovski was not among the 18 players called up by Metalurh Donetsk.

Ukraine, Premyer-Liha, Tavria – Obolon 0:0
Besart Ibraimi started on the bench for Tavria before he came on at the start of the 2nd half replacing Lucky Idahor.  Ibraimi attempted a shot from about 20 meters in the 72nd minute but the Obolon keeper made a comfortable save.  Ibraimi also received a yellow card in the 89th minute.

Cyprus, LTV Super Cup, APOEL – Omonia 1:0
Ivan Trickovski began the game on the bench for APOEL before he came on in the 78th minute replacing Constantinos Charalambides.  Many of the key players for APOEL who played this past Wednesday in the Champions League qualifier were rested or brought on late in the game like Trickovski.  Ivan took a corner in the 80th minute that reached Brazilian defender Marcelo Oliveira but his header went just wide of the goal.  A minute later, APOEL scored the only goal of the game through Christos Kontis which gave the team their first trophy of the season by beating rivals Omonia to capture the Cypriot Super Cup.

Belgium, Jupiler Pro League, Lierse – Genk 0:0
Boban Grncarov started at left CB for Lierse and played the entire game as he helped his side hold a clean sheet against the defending Belgian champions.  During the 1st half, there was a misunderstanding between Grncarov and the Lierse keeper that almost cost them a goal.  The Lierse LB played a ball back and Grncarov decided to let his keeper receive the pass, however; the keeper wasn’t completely ready and rushed to clear the danger.  The keeper mishit the ball and the kick ended up reaching Genk striker Elyaniv Barda who had an open goal but he only managed to hit the post as the visitors squandered a big opportunity.

Belgium, Jupiler Pro League, Zulte Waregem – OH Leuven 2:1
Aleksandar Trajkovski started for Zulte Waregem and played until the 57th minute when he was replaced by Teddy Chevalier.  Trajkovski scored his first goal in a Zulte Waregem uniform in the 36th minute when his teammate Giuseppe Rossini made a nice pass to Trajkovski who then showed good finishing skills by scoring past the visiting keeper.  Trajkovski had a solid game as Zulte Waregem dominated the 1st half and should have scored additional goals.  The Belgian club has been pleased with Trajkovski so far but they would like for him to work on his stamina so he can play effectively for 90 minutes.

Aleksandar Trajkovski’s goal (at 1:50):

Belgium, Jupiler Pro League, Beerschot – Gent 2:2
Tome Pacovski once again remained on the bench for Beerschot as he was the #2 keeper behind Thomas Kaminski.  Beerschot actually had two keepers on the bench in Pacovski and Maes, who started the last game but he was also relegated to the bench to make room for the talented keeper Kaminski.

Austria, ÖFB-Cup, Kapfenberg II – Mattersburg 1:3
Ilco Naumoski was rested by the Mattersburg manager as he was an unused substitute in this early round domestic cup game.  Mattersburg advanced to the next round of the Austrian Cup by defeating the amateur team of Kapfenberg.

Austria, ÖFB-Cup, Post Wien – Kapfenberg 0:3
Filip Gacevski was an unused substitute for Kapfenberg as he was the #2 keeper behind Raphael Wolf.

Switzerland, Axpo Super League, Thun – Neuchâtel Xamax 0:0
Muhamed Demiri stayed on the bench for the entire game.  So far, the Thun manager has been starting Demiri during Europa League games while he has been on the bench for league games.  Demiri made substitute appearances during the first three league games for Thun but he stayed on the bench for the entire game in this match.

Switzerland, Challenge League, Wil – Kriens 1:1
Adis Jahović played the first 45 minutes for Wil before he was substituted at the start of the 2nd half by Sandro Lombardi.  The referee for this game was Nicolas Jancevski who is of Macedonian origin.

Vlade Lazarevski was not called up by Amiens.

Bajram Fetai started on the bench for Lyngby before he entered the game in the 40th minute replacing Frederik Krabbe.  Fetai scored the only goal for Lyngby in the 63rd minute when he chested down a cross from the left before he unleashed a powerful left football shot that went past the opposing keeper.  Fetai was also given a yellow card by the referee in the 44th minute for a bad foul.

Poland, Ekstraklasa, Polonia Warszawa – Wisla Kraków 1:1
Aleksandar Todorovski was not among the 18 players called up by Polonia Warszawa for the second consecutive game.  The home team settled for a draw against the defending Polish champions.

Poland, Ekstraklasa, GKS Belchatów – Podbeskidzie 6:0
Zlatko Tanevski was an unused substitute for GKS Belchatów who scored six goals past newly promoted side Podbeskidzie.

Poland, Unibet 1. Liga, Sandecja Nowy Sacz – Arka Gdynia 3:0
Mirko Ivanovski began the game on the bench for Arka Gdynia before he came on in the 64th minute replacing Janusz Surdykowski.  His club continued the disappointing start to the season with a convincing road loss and Arka now has only two points after three league games in the Polish second division.

Vladimir Dimitrovski was once again not among the 18 players called up by Mladá Boleslav.

Czech Republic, Gambrinus liga, Príbram – Viktoria Žižkov 2:1
Ilija Nestorovski played the entire game for Viktoria Žižkov and played a part in the only goal scored by the visitors.  In the 23rd minute, Nestorovski found Zdenek Folprecht who then unselfishly passed the ball to Daniel Bartl who scored from close range to give Viktoria Žižkov the initial lead.  Nestorovski had a couple of chances but his shot in the 18th minute was saved and it went for a corner while in the 50th minute, Nestorovski attempted a volley but it went over the goal.

Croatia, T-Com Prva HNL, Lucko – Istra 1961 0:2
Armend Alimi started for Istra 1961 and played until the 70th minute when he was replaced by Vedran Jerković.  Istra 1961 recorded their first victory of the season in the third round of league play as Alimi also received a yellow card in the 36th minute.

Darko Tofiloski did not play for Košice as Fernando López started in goal and conceded one goal.

Netherlands, Eredivisie, Heerenveen – N.E.C. 2:2
Samir Fazli was not among the 18 players called up by Heerenveen.  The Dutch club has plenty of strikers on its roster and it would have been smart for Fazli to go out on loan in order to gain experience but he remained with Heerenveen.  Unless some injuries occur at the position, Fazli is facing another year of not getting many opportunities for the first team of Heerenveen.

Netherlands, Eredivisie, De Graafschap – Ajax 1:4
Dzelil Abdulla was an unused substitute for De Graafschap.  Abdulla joined De Graafschap earlier this summer from the defending Macedonian champions Shkendija.

Netherlands, Eerste Divisie, Oss – Helmond 3:1
