Vardar returned to the top of Macedonian football once again, photo: fkvardar.com.mkVardar noted a 1:2 win in Kratovo against Sileks and officially clinched the league title in the 20th edition of the Macedonian Championship.

With the 1:2 win against Sileks, coupled with Metalurg’s loss to Renova yesterday, Vardar has won its 6th title in the 20th domestic championship.  Captain Filip Ivanovski opened the scoreline in the 22nd minute, but Marko Nestorović equalized the game ten minutes later.  Sileks was then dealt a serious blow in the 34th minute when goalkeeper Daniel Bozhinovski was sent off with a red card.  Vardar capitalized as just before halftime, Filip Ivanovski scored his second goal of the match to complete the scoreline, thus handing Vardar its 6th league title.

Shkendija hosted Bregalnica in a match where the former had a chance to overtake Metalurg for second place.  That is exactly what happened as Shkendija build a commanding 3:0 lead in the opening 17 minutes.  Bregalnica pulled two goals back through striker Genc Hyseni to make it close, but Shkendija was able to hold on to the win and move into second place.

The bottom four sides on the table squared off against one another in this round.  Horizont Turnovo, in 9th place, recorded a come from behind victory against 10th ranked Teteks.  The visitors from Tetovo led 0:1 at halftime but Horizont Turnovo then added two goals in the 2nd half, and were helped by the fact that Teteks finished the game with 10 players after defender Toni Gjorgjevski was shown a red card in the 55th minute.  Meanwhile, Ohrid suffered a 3:1 loss against last placed 11 Oktomvri to stay second from bottom on the table.  Ohrid hasn’t won in ten consecutive league games, in which they have compiled eight losses and two draws.

In the remaining game of the round played today, Rabotnicki easily defeated Napredok 4:1 after the visitors actually opened the scoring in the 8th minute.  However, Rabotnichki responded in resounding fashion by scoring the next four goals in the span of 18 minutes, from the 16th to 34th minute, to snatch the three points and overtake Napredok as the 7th placed team on the standings.
