Mirko Ivanovski, Ezgjan Alioski drawing interest

Alioski (R) could soon be leaving Schaffhausen; photo: sfl.chAccording to Swiss website Gerüchteticker.com, both Mirko Ivanovski and Ezgjan Alioski have been drawing interest with two teams interested in each Macedonian international.

For Mirko Ivanovski, who has scored six goals in nine league game for Astra in Romania’s top division, his form has not gone unnoticed as he has been linked by website Gerüchteticker.com with Rapid Wien (Austria) and Zürich (Switzerland).  The rumor does not seem far fetched as both Rapid Wien and Zürich are looking for more offensive firepower.  Rapid Wien has relied too heavily on Terrence Boyd and needs more depth, while Zürich’s attack has not been very efficient as the club has scored the third fewest goals in the Swiss top division this season.  Last year, we conducted an interview with Ivanovski who made clear that he envisions playing in a bigger league and team in the future.  Both Rapid Wien and Zürich would qualify as more prestigious clubs than Astra, and the Austrian and Swiss leagues are ranked ahead of the Romanian league in UEFA coefficients.

As for left-back Ezgjan Alioski, who made his first two appearances for the Macedonian national team in last month’s qualifiers, Gerüchteticker.com reports that he has caught the attention of Grasshoppers and Luzern.  Those two teams are currently in 2nd and 3rd place of the Swiss top division, only trailing top ranked Basel.  Alioski recently signed an extension with Schaffhausen of the Swiss second division until June of 2016, but he would be open to leaving for a better opportunity.  Schaffhausen is also not likely to stand in the way if they receive a good offer.

Last month, as Alioski was summoned to the senior Macedonian squad, the manager of Schaffhausen praised Ezgjan’s development.  The club’s manager Maurizio Jacobacci stated, “Even though Alioski was a regular of the Macedonian U21 team, I did not expect him to make the jump to the senior national team so quickly.  He plays with great energy, enthusiasm and is offensive minded, but what made the difference this year is his defensive discipline.  He was fully rewarded for his tactical efforts.  His ascend is also a sign that we are working right as a club, and I hope that this will serve as additional motivation for other players to work tirelessly in order to continue learning and growing.”

Jacobacci also noted that Schaffhausen initially did not plan on having Alioski for this season.  He said, “After his loan deal expired this past June, we initially preferred other alternatives for financial reasons.  However, a few weeks later, seeing that he had yet to sign elsewhere, we turned back to him and our club president proposed Alioski a new offer.”

The rest as they say is history, and Alioski could now be on his way to bigger and better things if the rumored interest from Grasshoppers and Luzern is legitimate.  The earliest that a transfer can transpire for either Ivanovski and/or Alioski is during the winter transfer window.
