Pandev and Maurizio Domizzi during Sunday's game in Udine

Leonardo believes in Pandev

Pandev and Maurizio Domizzi during Sunday's game in UdineInter’s manager, Leonardo, believes that Pandev’s bad form will eventually come to an end and the Macedonian will start playing like he used to do before.

“Pandev was playing a different role for so long in the last year, helping the team win everything. Now there is a new request, he must get in the role of the an attacker who scores goals and there is the necessary period of adaptation.” – said Leonardo Nascimento de Araújo, Inter’s current manager.

Goran Pandev used to play as a wing on both sides in the formation of José Mourinho, while under Rafa Benítez he often played as a trequartista. Now under Leonardo, Pandev is back on his natural role of attacker, something that he used to play for years at Lazio. But, Pandev isn’t the first choice for Leo, but a substitute for Samuel Eto’o and Diego Milito. He got a few chances to play from the start because of the injury of Milito and Wesley Sneijder, but the Macedonian best player dissapointed the fans with his lack of form.

Besides Leonardo, behind Pandev stood up the directon of Inter Channel, Edoardo Caldara. “Sometimes players’ performances are inconsistent, one day you are a phenomenon, the other a weak one. And that serves more than the objectivity, which is happening in this moment to Pandev. He always tries his best on the field and that’s what is appreciated by Leonardo.”

Meanwhile, Goal.com put Pandev in the “Serie A Worst Team Of The Week: Round 21” together with Alessandro Del Piero from Juventus and Giuseppe Mascara from Catania.

Rumours are saying that Inter is looking for an attacker on the transfer market which means that if Pandev doesn’t start to play better he may end up beeing the second choice from the bench. Recent informations are saying that Sampdoria’s Giampaolo Pazzini is Inter’s hot target, but there is also the long-time target, Alessandro Matri from Cagliari.
