Latvian national team coach Marians Pahars announced a 20-player squad for the upcoming friendly trip to Macedonia.
Latvia will be coming with a mixed squad of domestic and foreign based players. Two players are called up for the first time and may remember Skopje for the rest of their lives if they make their debut: left back Antons Kurakins and right wing Roberts Savaļnieks The squad also features 35-year-old veteran midfielder Juris Laizāns who has made 113 appearances and is currently third in the country’s history. He and 38-year-old keeper Aleksandrs Koļinko are the only ones that were part of the Latvian squad that played at the EURO 2004. Coach Marians Pahars was also playing for the squad back then. Latvia will be without injured CSKA Moskva midfielder Aleksandrs Cauņa.
