Kuzmanovski takes over OFK Beograd

Macedonian coach Stevica Kuzmanovski has been named the new manager of Serbian top division side OFK Beograd.

The 49-year-old Kuzmanovski will thus serve his second duty as OFK Beograd manager after also briefly leading the club from 2003-2004.  During his playing career, Kuzmanovski played for OFK Beograd on two different occasions and began his managerial career an an assistant coach with the Serbian club in 2000, so it’s a reunion for both sides.  Kuzmanovski last managed Armenian side Banants and besides OFK Beograd, has also coached several Bulgarian sides.

Speaking at his introductory press conference, Kuzmanovski said, “Thanks to everyone who has supported me and the entire OFK Beograd leadership.  I have been present here for two decades, and although eventually leaving, it’s always nice to return home.  I have always been in touch with my beloved OFK Beograd and the love for Romantičari (the club’s nickname) has always been there.”

During his time as both assistant and manager for OFK Beograd between 2000-2004, Kuzmanovski brought several Macedonians to the club such as Boban Grncharov, Filip Despotovski and Hristijan Kirovski.  That could happen again as Kuzmanovski could look at the Macedonian market for new signings as OFK Beograd looks to improve upon an 8th placed finish this past season.
