Striker Hristijan Kirovski scored his fifth goal of the season by converting a penalty to help Apollon clinch a point in today’s road game against AEK Larnaca.
Hristijan Kirovski started the game on the bench for Apollon before he came on in the 69th minute replacing fellow striker João Paulo. His club was training 1:0 at that point after the home side AEK Larnaca scored the opening goal from a penalty in the 34th minute. Apollon left it late but was also rewarded a penalty by the referee in the fourth minute of stoppage time when an AEK Larnaca player used his hand inside the area. Kirovski took the penalty for Apollon and scored the equalizing goal to help his team salvage a point. The AEK Larnaca keeper guessed right on the spot kick by Kirovski but the ball went just under the arms of the home keeper.
Kirovski has now scored five goals in 12 league appearances for Apollon this season, including two goals from penalties. Hristijan has scored his five goals in 510 minutes as most of his appearances have come as a second half substitute. With the draw, AEK Larnaca remained two points ahead of Apollon for 5th place on the table in the Cypriot top division. AEK Larnaca now has 25 points after 16 rounds while Apollon has 23 points from the same number of games.
