Karpaty falls short of reaching cup final

Martin Bogatinov and Karpaty were eliminated from the Ukrainian Cup after losing 7:6 in the penalty shootout to Metalurh Donetsk.

Martin Bogatinov started at keeper for Karpaty and kept a clean sheet for 120 minutes, forcing the match to go into penalty kicks.  Martin came up big in the 119th minute of extra time when he saved a penalty to help Karpaty reach the penalty shootout.  In penalty kicks, Bogatinov saved the fourth penalty kick but that was not enough as Metalurh Donetsk prevailed 7:6 to reach the domestic cup final.

Thus, Karpaty was eliminated from the competition and will now focus on avoiding relegation in the final two league games of the season.  The Ukrainian Cup final will feature two clubs from the city of Donetsk in Shakhtar and Metalurh.
