Macedonia starts the qualifiers for the 2023 EURO with a match away to France on 2 September in Le Mans. Later on the 7th in Ohrid our youth national team welcomes Serbia. For that occasion Kanatlarovski summoned 25 players of which 2/3 are from the domestic league. Among the summoned players are two Australian born Macedonians, Matthew Bozhinovski who plays as central defender for the youth team of Melbourne Victory, and right winger Stefan Cholakovski who is already playing and scoring for Melbourne City in the A League.
However, problems occurred as the two international players came out COVID-19 positive at the tests done by their clubs so Kanatlarovski summoned additional two players, both from the domestic league. The positive players are into isolation and it is doubtful if they could join at least for the later match.
