After just several months in Norway with Sogndal, defender Jasmin Mecinovic has left the club and is expected to continue his career in Hungary with FC Egri.
Egri is a newly promoted club in Hungary’s top division after finishing in first place of the second division this past season. The club already features another Macedonian player in Simeon Hristov. Both Mecinovic and Hristov had made appearances for the Macedonian U21 national team.
Jasmin’s time in Norway was plagued by injury. Once he signed with Sogndal, Mecinovic started the first couple of games and did well by most accounts but then a nagging leg injury forced him to miss a considerable time. Jasmin recently recovered from his injury but has been staying on the bench as an unused substitute over the past month.
Seeking more playing time, both sides agreed to mutually terminate his contract. Sogndal’s assistant manager told newspaper sognavis.no the following, “Mecinovic came as a free agent to our team. Now, he has informed us that he wants to leave our club which we have accepted.”
The Norwegian newspaper went on to mention that Egri would be Jasmin’s likely next destination.
